We have made a couple of changes to our ratings algorithm over on PadelLevels.
- One set matches - we have reduced the weighting of these matches from 75% of the best of 3 weighting down to 33%. This is because short formats can cause a bit too much volatility. Reducing the weighting keeps things fair, rewards full match play, and improves overall accuracy.
- Follow-on matches - we are now excluding these from the ratings calculations. Follow-on matches are the ones you play after your main match to make use of the remaining court time and are inherently much more social. They are typically very unpredictable and reduce the accuracy of the ratings.
You may notice some movement in your level, even if you haven’t played recently. That’s simply the system re-calculating historic results with these changes in place. Nothing unusual, nothing to worry about and hasn't made significant changes to the overall club rankings.
